Overview
Our client, a leading international insurance organisation, is expanding its Tax team and is seeking an Indirect Tax Associate to join in a newly created position.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to develop their career within a global financial services environment. The successful candidate will support indirect tax compliance and advisory activities across multiple jurisdictions while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
Working closely with Finance, Tax, and external advisors, this role offers exposure to international tax matters and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing team.
Responsibilities
- Act as a second-line reviewer for indirect tax returns, including:
- Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)
- Support indirect tax calculations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with local regulations
- Collaborate with Finance teams, international tax colleagues, and external advisors to maintain efficient and consistent tax processes
- Support interactions with tax authorities, including:
- Audits
- Compliance reviews
- Information requests
- Regulatory enquiries
- Analyse tax and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at simplifying and streamlining indirect tax processes
- Provide input on business transactions to identify tax implications and minimise potential risks
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and communicating tax risks to relevant stakeholders
- Support workload planning and contribute to team objectives and priorities
- Monitor developments in indirect tax legislation and share relevant updates with colleagues
Requirements
- Experience working within UK Indirect Tax in an insurance, financial services, or regulated environment
- Part-qualified or fully qualified in a recognised tax or accountancy qualification, such as:
- ATT
- CTA
- ACA
- ACCA
- Experience gained within:
- A large corporate organisation
- Professional services
- Financial services
- Insurance sector
- Strong understanding of VAT and IPT compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-specialist stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data and financial information
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills or the ability to use Excel for tax analysis and reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation
- Experience with tax and finance systems

- Exposure to international indirect tax matters
- Experience supporting multi-jurisdiction tax compliance activities
