Main Purpose of the job: Casework Support Officer

To provide a centralised casework coordination function for Cabinet Members, ensuring all enquiries are accurately recorded, allocated and progressed through the Councils corporate systems, alongside providing flexible administrative support to the Mayor and Cabinet Office.

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:

1. Act as the central point of receipt for casework submitted by Cabinet Members.

2. Review incoming casework to ensure it is clear, appropriately framed and contains sufficient information for action.

3. Log, upload and maintain casework records within the Councils corporate casework management system on behalf of Cabinet Members, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

4. Allocate casework to the appropriate service area for investigation and response, using sound judgement.

5. Monitor progress of casework, following up with services where responses are delayed or incomplete to support timely resolution.

6. Maintain clear and auditable records of casework activity in line with information governance requirements.

7. Handle all casework with appropriate sensitivity, discretion and confidentiality.

8. Provide administrative support across the Mayor and Cabinet Office where capacity allows.

9. Assist with managing shared inboxes, correspondence and basic record-keeping.

10. Support the preparation and coordination of meeting papers, briefings or general office documentation.

11. Maintain strong and effective networks with Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Members and officers at all levels, within the Council.

12. Carry out other duties as directed which may be required as part of the overall programme of work for the Mayor and Cabinet Office and retain a flexible approach in order to respond to the variable requirements across the Chief Executives division.

13. Carry out the duties of the post with due regard to the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy and core values.

14. Assist in carrying out the Council's environmental policy within the day-to-day activities of the post.

15. Undertake other duties, commensurate with the grade, as may reasonably be required by the Head of Mayors Office, including attending evening meetings and working outside normal office hours on a regular basis.

Casework Support Officer Understanding of the role and functions of local government, particularly in an inner London context

Casework Support Officer Awareness of the political environment in which Cabinet Members operate

Casework Support Officer Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information

Casework Support officer of providing administrative or casework support in a busy office environment

Experience of working in local government or a similar public sector environment
