Position Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Mobile Asphalt and Concrete Plant Operative to join our team across the Highlands. In this hands-on role, you will support the safe and efficient production of ready-mixed concrete and asphalt, operating plant equipment and ensuring materials are produced to the required standards.
You will work as part of a team, following strict health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor concrete and asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production
- Carry out cleaning, digging out, and housekeeping activities within mixers, plant areas, hoppers, conveyors, and surrounding workspaces as required
- Receive, inspect, and manage raw materials including aggregates, cement, bitumen, fillers, additives, and recycled materials
- Perform routine plant inspections, operational checks, and basic maintenance to maximise plant reliability and performance
- Ensure concrete and asphalt products meet required specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements
- Load, dispatch, and manage the safe transfer of ready-mixed concrete and asphalt products accurately and efficiently
- Monitor production processes, material usage, and stock levels to maintain operational efficiency and minimise waste
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping across all plant areas
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including site rules and company policies
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving plant faults, equipment defects, process issues, or safety concerns in a timely manner
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, product quality, and operational efficiency
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience in a concrete plant, quarry, construction, or similar industrial environment (preferred)
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn plant and machinery operations
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to carry out physically demanding work, including manual handling and cleaning tasks
- Basic mechanical awareness for routine checks and minor maintenance
- Reliability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic
