Tax Assistant / Tax Trainee
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant / Tax Trainee to join a growing tax team for an Accountancy Practice in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some prior experience in a tax or accountancy role who is looking to further develop their career in taxation.
A great opportunity for candidates working towards professional qualifications such as ATT or CTA with study support available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of personal tax returns (Self Assessment) for a varied client portfolio
- Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns
- Supporting senior team members with tax compliance across multiple tax areas
- Liaising with HMRC on routine queries and correspondence
- Maintaining accurate client records and working papers
- Assisting with basic tax planning work as experience develops
- Meeting deadlines while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and professional standards
- Delivering a professional and responsive service to clients
Experience Required:
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Accountancy practice experience/ studying towards ATT or CTA
What We Offer:
- Study support package for ATT or CTA (including fees and exam support)
- Hybrid working: up to 2 days from home (post-probation)
- Flexible working hours (7-hour day between 8am – 6pm, with core hours 10am – 4pm)
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + your birthday off
