HGV Class 1 Drivers – Thurrock
Contract: 28 June – 12 September (11 weeks)
Pay: From £20.16 per hour
Shifts: 03:00 or 19:00 start times
Pattern: Wednesday–Saturday (with optional 5th shift on Sunday or Monday during peak volumes)
About the Role
We are recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to support a major logistics operation in Thurrock over an 11-week period. You’ll be delivering fresh, frozen and ambient products to local stores using a modern, well-maintained fleet.
Typical shifts last 8 – 13 hours, with 3 – 6 drops per shift, depending on route. Drivers may also be required to complete a second run within the same shift.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 months’ Class 1 driving experience
- Ability to work Wednesday–Saturday (plus optional Sunday/Monday when required)
- Willingness to complete a full driving assessment and induction, including transport knowledge testing
- Assessment & induction take place at Thurrock depot.
- If passed, drivers complete a short run and the day is paid.
What You’ll Do
- Safely operate Class 1 vehicles across multi-drop store delivery routes.
- Handle chilled, frozen, and ambient goods.
- Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
- Work efficiently to complete all scheduled drops and potential second runs.
