Senior Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + Benefits (DOE)
A well-established geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Engineer to join its growing Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of a wide range of ground investigation and contaminated land projects across the commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from tender stage through to completion, mentoring junior staff, and providing technical expertise across both geotechnical and geoenvironmental disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and delivering geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects throughout the UK.
- Designing, supervising and managing ground investigations.
- Undertaking geotechnical assessments including foundation recommendations, slope stability and earthworks assessments.
- Completing Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations and contamination risk assessments.
- Preparing and reviewing factual and interpretative reports.
- Managing project budgets, programmes and client relationships.
- Liaising with contractors, clients and regulatory authorities.
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and engineering geologists.
- Assisting with business development and tender preparation.
Requirements:
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Geoscience or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a geotechnical or geoenvironmental consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of UK ground investigation practices and contaminated land legislation.
- Experience supervising site investigations and managing projects.
- Excellent report writing and client-facing skills.
- Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
