Teaching Assistant – SEN School (KS3)
Full Time | September 2026 Start | Initially 1-Month Trial Period (Potential to Extend)
Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a specialist setting? We are currently seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school from September 2026, working within a Key Stage 3 class.
This role will initially cover a one-month sabbatical, however there is strong potential for this position to become long-term or permanent for the right candidate.
About the Setting:
This specialist provision supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including:
- Moderate to severe learning difficulties
- Communication and interaction needs
- Social communication differences
All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and benefit from a highly personalised and differentiated approach to teaching and learning. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every learner is supported to reach their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils in a KS3 classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist the class teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of tailored learning activities
- Help manage classroom behaviour in a positive, supportive way
- Support pupils with their social, emotional and communication development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider staff to meet individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable
