About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision this September.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced TA or HLTA who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs and making a lasting impact on their education and wellbeing. You will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, leading small groups, and delivering targeted interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Cover classes in the absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-planned lessons
- Provide targeted academic and pastoral support to students with SEMH needs
- Lead small group and 1:1 interventions
- Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and wider support staff
- Help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds HLTA status or has significant relevant experience
- Has previous experience working within SEMH, SEN, or alternative provisions
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills
- Is calm, patient, and adaptable under pressure
- Is passionate about supporting vulnerable learners to achieve their potential
- Can build strong, trusting relationships with students
