Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Primary School in Irlam from September 2026.
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday during term time, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, social and emotional needs, and complex learning needs.
The Role
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support that enables pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. You may be required to support pupils on a one-to-one basis or within small groups, adapting activities to meet individual needs and promoting positive behaviour throughout the school day.
Responsibilities

Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.

Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities.

Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence.

Assisting with personal care where required.

Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or care setting.

A patient, caring, and resilient approach.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
