Role: Senior Data Engineering Manager Location: London (hybrid – 3 days onsite) Salary: £100,000-£110,000 + bonus

We're partnering with a well-established organisation undergoing a significant data transformation. They're looking for a senior leader to guide multiple engineering workstreams, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery while developing a high-performing team. This is not a hands-on build role, you will be setting direction, challenging design decisions, and ensuring the right outcomes are achieved across squads and partners. Strong stakeholder engagement and people leadership are critical. What you'll be doing:
Lead and develop data engineering teams and managers Oversee multiple delivery streams with predictable, outcome-driven execution Act as a senior point of contact for stakeholders across tech and business Assure delivery quality, managing risk, velocity, and performance Drive continuous improvement across tooling, processes, and ways of working Manage third-party partners and hold them accountable for outcomes Support service transition into stable operational support models
Required skillset:
Proven experience leading data engineering teams (incl. direct line management) Strong people leadership: coaching, development, performance management Demonstrated ownership of multi-squad or programme-level delivery Experience working with external vendors and ensuring quality delivery Solid understanding of modern cloud-based data platforms (hands-on familiarity with Azure preferred) Exposure to low-code platforms and workflow automation tooling Comfortable operating in enterprise cloud and DevOps environments (Azure) Experience with service transition, BAU ownership, or support models Skilled in stakeholder management at senior/exec level Ability to balance technical judgement with strategic leadership Track record of improving delivery capability or scaling functions Calm, structured leadership style in complex environments
