Accounts Assistant
Daventry – office based
£14.00 – £16.00 per hour plus holiday
Temporary Accounts Assistant – 3 months estimated cover
We're looking for a capable and organised Temporary Accounts Assistant to join a fast-moving SME finance team. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone with solid finance experience who can step in quickly and make an immediate impact. Cover whilst a permanent recruitment drive continues
What you'll be doing
You'll support the finance function across all areas, including:
- Processing and managing supplier invoices and payment runs
- Raising sales invoices, allocating receipts, and supporting credit control
- Completing bank reconciliations and monitoring cash activity
- Supporting month-end processes, reporting, and management accounts
- Handling expenses, card transactions, VAT support, and general finance admin
- Responding to day-to-day finance queries and assisting with audits and projects
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (e.g. Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper)
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles
- Confident user of finance systems (e.g. ERP/accounting software)
- Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
- Able to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
Nice to have
- AAT studier or qualified
- SME background
- Exposure to VAT or management accounts

You're reliable, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership. You work well under pressure, communicate clearly, and take pride in accurate work.
