This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join the international investment office team in Cyprus. The Fund Accountant will be responsible for the accurate accounting, valuation, and reporting of the investment funds and portfolio holdings. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with alternative investments, and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-touch environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for investment portfolios, including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and direct investments
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance reports for internal and external parties when required
- Reconcile cash and investment positions across multiple custodians, independent fund managers and banks
- Process capital calls and distributions (subscriptions and redemptions)
- Calculate NAV and investment performance metrics
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules for all investment entities
- Assist with tax reporting requirements when required
- Monitor and track management fees, carried interest, and other fund expenses
- Implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting processes
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
- Take ownership of fund-related companies using SAGE input and reporting
- Implementation and subsequent use and reporting using the investment performance and portfolio management platform Addepar
- Assisting with the KYC process with various banking processes
Key skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of fund accounting experience, preferably in private equity, hedge funds, or family office environments
- Understanding of partnership accounting and ASC 820 fair value measurements
- Proficiency in accounting software SAGE, Microsoft Excel, and Adeppar is desirable
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication skills for interacting with family members, advisors, and service providers
- Native or fluent English proficiency is required
- Russian language skills are a strong bonus
- CFA or progress toward CFA certification is preferred, or
- Accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Ideally you will be based in Cyprus, however we may consider relocating a suitable candidate
