Job Purpose
To provide an efficient and professional accountancy service to clients in accordance with firm policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Client Service
- Plan assignments for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and charities
- Prepare statutory accounts for a variety of client types
- Liaise with clients regarding draft accounts for review and approval
- Undertake audits from completion of planning through to finalisation
- Prepare personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns (including CT600s)
- Communicate with clients, HM Revenue & Customs, and other stakeholders via email, written correspondence, and telephone
- Review confirmation statements and other statutory compliance documentation
- Prepare management accounts as required
Financial Performance
- Monitor own performance against assigned job budgets
- Identify and report any issues impacting delivery or profitability
Client Relations
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and their teams
- Proactively seek information to support timely and accurate service delivery
Practice Development
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional services to existing clients
General
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required
Skills and Experience
- Strong working knowledge of cloud and desktop accounting systems, such as:
- IRIS
- Xero
- QuickBooks
- Sage Line 50
- FreeAgent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with web-based tools (e.g., Chrome)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
