The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a dynamic and supportive team. This is a varied role offering exposure to a wide client base, with responsibility for managing client relationships, reviewing work, and supporting junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review statutory accounts for a range of clients including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Oversee preparation and submission of VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations
- Review bookkeeping and management accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns
- Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact
- Build strong client relationships and provide proactive business and financial advice
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff members
- Assist with workflow management and ensuring assignments are completed within deadlines
- Liaise with HMRC and other external stakeholders where required
- Support partners and senior management with ad hoc projects and advisory work
Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified or late-stage studier
- Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax, and VAT
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar
