An established and purpose-led organisation based in South Birmingham is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join their finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven finance professional looking to take on a broad and impactful role within a supportive environment.
You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality financial insight, supporting operational leaders, and contributing to effective decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records in line with internal policies and reporting deadlines
- Supervise and support junior members of the finance team, fostering development and performance
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing financial guidance and meaningful insights
- Review and track financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and recommending improvements
- Contribute to monthly reporting cycles and support the annual planning and budgeting process
- Ensure completion of required financial returns and reports, maintaining compliance and accuracy
- Assist with forecasting, financial planning, and identifying efficiency or cost-saving opportunities
About You
This role would suit a confident and analytical finance professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills. You will ideally bring:
- Professional accountancy qualification, part-qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience in management accounting within a corporate, public sector, or not-for-profit setting
- A track record of partnering with non-finance teams to influence decision-making
- Previous experience leading or mentoring staff
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex financial information
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and producing detailed financial reports
