Job Title: Tool Designer – Detail Parts
Location: Warton (Full-Time Onsite)
Rate: £35 per hour (PAYE) or £44.62 via umbrella (inside IR35)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Clearance: BPSS with SC required
About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Tool Designers – Detail Parts to join a high-performing engineering team in Warton. This role sits within Operations/Manufacturing, supporting Falcon Works, and focuses on delivering detailed tooling designs for airframe-related components. You will be responsible for taking tooling concepts through full development lifecycle stages—right through to manufacture—supporting cutting-edge manufacturing demonstration and technology programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed tooling designs from concept through to manufacture
- Support development programmes with robust tooling solutions
- Produce comprehensive tooling documentation, including:
- Risk assessments
- Tooling specifications
- Design review documentation
- Bills of Materials (BoMs)
- UKCA marking documentation (where required)
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (design, toolroom, process development) and external suppliers
- Apply internal and external standards governing tooling activities
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in detail tool design (preferably within the aerospace sector)
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 (particularly surfacing)
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to solve complex engineering problems from concept to delivery
- Comfortable working in early lifecycle programmes with evolving requirements
Desirable:
- Experience with composite detail tooling and elastomer forming
- Familiarity with internal systems such as SAPCAMS and PLM
