1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant – KS1 – Newham
A warm and supportive Primary School in Newham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism (ASD). This is a full-time role starting ASAP until end of academic year
The Role
-
Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal

Supporting communication and engagement through Now & Next boards, visual aids, and structured routines

Assisting with Phonics-based activities and early learning tasks
-
Supporting the child's social and emotional development

Providing personal care when required

Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists
Requirements
-
Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs
-
Confidence using visual supports (Now & Next boards, visual timetables, PECS, etc.)

Understanding of Phonics in early literacy development

Patient, nurturing, and able to build trust and consistency
-
Comfortable supporting with personal care
