Harper May is working with a founder-led SaaS business in the technology sector that has reached £15m ARR and is backed by leading venture capital firms. The company has built a strong product and customer base, but is now at an inflection point where financial rigour and commercial clarity are critical to unlocking the next phase of growth. The finance function has been run operationally to date, and the business now needs a Head of Finance to establish proper infrastructure, drive strategic commercial insight, and support the leadership team through planned expansion and investor engagement.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will build and lead the finance function from the ground up. You will own all financial operations, establish scalable reporting and control frameworks, and become a trusted commercial advisor to the executive team. This is a hands-on role that blends operational delivery with strategic input on product pricing, go-to-market strategy, and capital allocation.
- Establish financial operations, management reporting, and monthly close processes
- Build accurate forecasting models and cash flow projections to support strategic planning
- Create commercial dashboards and analysis that inform pricing, customer economics, and product decisions
- Implement robust internal controls, governance, and accounting policies fit for a maturing business
- Lead audit processes, statutory reporting, and investor communication and reporting
- Recruit and develop a growing finance team as the business scales
- Partner with leadership on M&A evaluation, fundraising mechanics, and long-term financial strategy
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with 5+ years in a similar finance leadership role
- Proven experience in technology, SaaS, or venture-backed businesses at a similar growth stage
- Strong commercial instinct and ability to translate financial data into business insight
- Technical competence in financial modelling, forecasting, and GAAP reporting
- Track record of building finance teams and implementing systems in a scaling environment
- Ability to communicate with confidence at board and investor level
