Linux Kernel Engineer – 12-Month Contract | Remote Working | Outside IR35 | High Daily Rate
We are seeking an experienced Linux Kernel Engineer with a proven track record of contributing to the Linux mainline through upstream open-source development.
This is a unique opportunity to join one of the world's leading semiconductor organisations, working at the forefront of embedded Linux innovation and next-generation hardware platforms.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and enhancing Linux kernel functionality for cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.
- Contributing code directly to the Linux mainline and engaging with the upstream open-source community.
- Working closely with platform, firmware, and hardware engineering teams to deliver high-performance solutions.
- Driving kernel optimisation, debugging, and feature development across complex embedded systems.
- Gaining hands-on exposure to the latest Yocto Project releases and modern embedded Linux toolchains.
What We're Looking For
- Strong Linux Kernel development experience.
- Driver development including writing drivers from scratch and backporting drivers.
- Demonstrable upstream contributions accepted into the Linux mainline.
- Deep understanding of device drivers, kernel subsystems, and embedded Linux architectures.
- Experience working within open-source communities and development processes.
- Knowledge of Yocto and embedded Linux build systems.
