The Role
They are seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher of English to join their successful and forward-thinking English department on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE).
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 for suitably experienced candidates.
- Inspiring students to develop strong literacy, analytical, and communication skills through the study of language and literature.
- Using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners and maximise student progress.
- Monitoring and assessing student achievement, providing high-quality feedback and targeted interventions where appropriate.
- Contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practice within the English department.
- Promoting high standards of behaviour, effort, and academic achievement.
- Supporting the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and pastoral responsibilities as required.
- Upholding the school's commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Possess excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English language and literature.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate students.
- Have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour.
- Be committed to continuous professional development and collaborative working.
- Have a strong understanding of assessment practices and the effective use of data to support student progress.
