Your new company Hays Education is partnering with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in the Wigan area to appoint a committed and organised Attendance Coordinator to join their pastoral support team. Your new role In this position, you will take responsibility for supporting strong student attendance and punctuality across the school. You'll work collaboratively with pupils, families, and staff to address attendance concerns and remove barriers that may impact regular school attendance. Key responsibilities will include tracking and reviewing daily attendance information, identifying patterns or areas of concern, and putting appropriate support measures in place to improve overall attendance. You will also be responsible for keeping accurate records via the school's data systems, following up swiftly on absences, and ensuring all processes align with safeguarding and statutory guidance. The role will involve regular communication with parents and carers, fostering constructive relationships while managing attendance issues in a calm and professional way. This may include leading attendance meetings, assisting with home visits when necessary, and coordinating with external services such as education welfare teams. You'll also contribute to wider pastoral initiatives that promote engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion across the student body. What you'll need to succeed To be successful, you should have prior experience in a school or similar setting, alongside a good understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities. Strong organisational skills, resilience, and confidence in dealing with a range of stakeholders are essential.
