A leading manufacturing business based in Swadlincote is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded purchasing professional to play a key role in managing supplier relationships, driving cost-saving initiatives and ensuring the efficient supply of maintenance, repair and operational materials across the site.
The Role
You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring MRO goods and services, negotiating with suppliers, managing contracts and supporting continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs and improving supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for MRO products and services.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and supplier agreements.
- Drive cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance and develop strategic supplier relationships.
- Support operational teams to ensure material availability and service levels.
- Manage RFQs, supplier selection and procurement projects.
- Track and report on purchasing KPIs.
About You
- Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience sourcing MRO, indirect materials, consumables, services or CAPEX-related purchases.
- Commercially aware with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
