Reed are working with a forward-thinking organisation based in Haywards Heath that is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to take ownership of their data protection and information governance function.
This is a key position where you’ll act as the organisation’s subject matter expert on all aspects of data protection, ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR and related legislation. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, providing expert guidance, driving best practice, and embedding a strong data protection culture across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the designated Data Protection Officer
Advising senior leadership and teams on data protection obligations
Monitoring compliance through audits, policies, and training
Overseeing DPIAs, data sharing agreements, and records of processing
Managing data breaches and liaising with regulatory bodies where needed
Supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) processes
Promoting a proactive, “privacy by design” approach across the organisation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working autonomously while influencing at a strategic level.
To be successful, you’ll bring:
A recognised data protection qualification (IAPP, BCS or similar)
Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation
Proven experience in a data protection or information governance role
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and providing expert advice.
