Operations Manager

Salary – £38,940 – £48,675 per annum (plus benefits) Hours – 37.5 hours per week Location & Postcode – Ipswich Office, IP3 9FF

As an Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of 11 recycling centre sites across Suffolk, ensuring high standards of service delivery, environmental compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will lead operational teams, manage site performance, and ensure services are delivered in line with contractual obligations and company objectives.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?

– Managing the day-to-day operation of recycling centre sites in line with the Contract and FCC objectives – Becoming the day-to-day operational contact for Suffolk County Council’s officers – Leading and supporting operational teams, including Area Supervisors – Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies – Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are in place – Monitoring site performance to ensure services are delivered safely, professionally and efficiently – Ensuring environmental permits, planning permissions and contractual requirements are met – Investigating incidents and supporting accident/near-miss reporting and corrective actions – Driving continuous improvement and innovation across service delivery – Managing budgets and supporting cost control for the contract

What are we looking for?

– Experience in an operations management role, ideally within waste, recycling or a similar environment – Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams – Good understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance requirements – Experience of risk assessments and safe systems of work – Ability to manage performance and deliver against operational targets – Strong communication and organisational skills – A proactive approach to problem solving – Ability to work within budgets and manage resources effectively – Commitment to high standards of service delivery and continuous improvement
