Autism Support Worker – Primary SEN School – Lewisham

A warm, nurturing primary SEN school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Worker to support young learners in a structured and supportive environment.

Location: Lewisham
Pay: £95-£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, September start

The RoleAs an Autism Support Worker, you'll work closely with primary-aged pupils (typically 4-11 years old) with autism and additional needs. You'll help create a safe, engaging, and structured environment where children can build confidence, develop key skills, and enjoy learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to each child
  • Delivering fun, engaging, and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Encouraging independence and early life skills development
  • Helping maintain a positive, consistent, and nurturing classroom environment

Who We're Looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with, or a strong interest in, supporting children with autism
  • Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic about working with young children
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with primary-aged pupils
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team
  • Is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs

Requirements

  • Experience as an Autism Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, or similar (preferred)
  • A genuine passion for working with primary-aged children with SEN
  • A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
