Gleeson Recruitment Group
Financial Accountant
Solihull
Salary up to £58k + benefits
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Financial Accountant to join a growing, well-established organisation in a high-visibility role within a strong finance team.
This position offers genuine ownership across financial reporting, balance sheet control, and process improvement. It's particularly well suited to a first-time mover from practice or an industry candidate seeking broader responsibility and the chance to make a tangible impact.
You'll play a key role in delivering accurate reporting while working through more complex or historic accounting areas – requiring strong technical grounding, curiosity, and persistence.
The role
- Supporting month-end and year-end close, including preparation of journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Ensuring compliance with FRS 102 and contributing to accurate statutory reporting and audit delivery
- Taking ownership of key balance sheet areas, ensuring accounts are fully reconciled, understood, and risks are identified early
- Leading on intercompany reconciliations and resolving differences in a timely manner
- Investigating legacy and historic accounting issues, often working with incomplete information or unclear ownership
- Working closely with non-finance stakeholders to gather information, challenge where needed, and improve understanding of financials
- Identifying root causes of issues and implementing improvements to processes and controls
- Supporting wider finance initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement activity
About you
You'll be ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong grounding in financial accounting, either from practice or industry. You'll be technically sound, with the ability to identify issues and work through them independently.
Just as important are your personal attributes. You'll be naturally proactive, comfortable working in ambiguity, and resilient when dealing with challenging or delayed responses. You won't drop issues – you'll see them through.
You'll also be confident working with non-finance stakeholders, able to communicate clearly, and comfortable asking the right questions to get to the heart of a problem.
Why apply
This is a role for someone who wants more than a standard reporting position. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership, improve processes, and play a meaningful role in strengthening financial control within the business.
If you're looking to move into a role where you can add value, solve problems, and genuinely influence outcomes, this is a strong next step.
