Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing manufacturing business in North Sheffield to recruit an experienced and detail-driven Inventory Controller.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on individual to take ownership of end-to-end inventory across UK operations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring stock accuracy, supporting operational efficiency, and driving improvements across supply chain and production processes.
The Role
Reporting directly to the UK Supply Chain Manager, you will take responsibility for the full inventory lifecycle—from demand forecasting and purchasing through to stock reconciliation and reporting. This is a highly visible role, where your performance will be measured against key inventory metrics including stock days, variances, and material write-offs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate demand forecasts, working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Raise and manage purchase orders within Microsoft Dynamics, ensuring timely supplier communication and delivery performance
- Monitor supplier performance, proactively challenging delays and resolving issues
- Coordinate inbound logistics, including delivery scheduling and support with international shipments and customs where required
- Ensure prompt and accurate receipting of goods within the ERP system
- Take ownership of inventory ledgers, maintaining accuracy and integrity at all times
- Process works orders and support production with material issuance
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies in collaboration with finance
- Carry out regular stock takes and reconciliations, reporting findings to senior leadership
- Support audit requirements and compliance processes
- Promote and adhere to Health & Safety standards within warehouse and production environments
About You
- Previous experience in an inventory, stock control, or supply chain role (manufacturing environment advantageous)
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
