About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated Social Sciences Teacher specialising in Health & Social Care (H&SC) and Child Development. Operating on a full-time basis, this position is initially offered as a temporary contract starting in September, with a direct view to transitioning into a permanent role for the right candidate.
The successful educator will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 (KS4/5). This role demands a professional who can seamlessly bridge academic theory with practical, vocational relevance, preparing students for both external examinations and future careers in the care and education sectors.

Key Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
- Reference History: Provision of two professional, child-related references covering the last two years of employment.
- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills
- Curriculum Expertise: Deep subject knowledge of BTEC/Cambridge National/Technical specifications in Health & Social Care and Child Development at KS4 and KS5.
- Differentiated Instruction: Ability to tailor complex psychological, sociological, and developmental theories to suit diverse learning needs.
- Vocational Contextualisation: Skill in linking classroom learning to real-world health, social care, and early years settings.
- Exam Preparation: Proven capability in coaching students for external examinations and managing rigorous coursework moderation.
- Behaviour Management: Excellent classroom management skills grounded in positive reinforcement and mutual respect.
- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in utilizing interactive whiteboards, VLEs, and educational software to enhance learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver highly effective, engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students across KS4 and KS5.
- Assessment & Marking: Regularly assess, mark, and record student's classwork and coursework in line with school and exam board policies.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and report on the academic progress, attainment, and well-being of assigned student cohorts.
- Coursework Internal Verification: Manage and internally verify student portfolios and vocational coursework assignments securely.
- Classroom Environment: Maintain a stimulating, organised, and safe learning environment that celebrates student achievement.
- Pastoral Support: Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral care, guidance, and monitoring the attendance and behaviour of a designated tutor group.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress via reports and parent's evenings.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively engage in the school's professional development program and self-evaluate teaching practices.
- Policy Compliance: Adhere to and implement all school policies, including those regarding safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety.
- Resource Development: Contribute to the creation, sharing, and refinement of high-quality departmental schemes of work and learning resources.
