You will be joining a well-established and highly respected environmental consultancy with a strong presence across the UK. The organisation delivers a wide range of ecological and environmental services, supporting major infrastructure, renewable energy, and development projects.
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to support projects across the north of Scotland.
Your new role
As a Senior ECoW, you will play a key role in ensuring ecological compliance across construction projects. You will be site-based, providing expert advice to contractors and project teams, ensuring works are completed in line with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and best practice guidance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing ecological compliance on active construction sites
- Advising site teams on ecological constraints and mitigation measures
- Delivering toolbox talks and site briefings
- Monitoring works in relation to protected species
- Ensuring adherence to method statements, licences, and planning conditions
- Producing clear and accurate site reports
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrable experience working as an Ecological Clerk of Works
- Strong working knowledge of UK and Scottish wildlife legislation
- Experience with protected species mitigation (e.g. bats, badgers, otters, nesting birds)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence site teams
- A proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel
Desirable:
- Protected species licences
- Membership of CIEEM (or working towards)
- Experience within infrastructure or renewables sectors
