Transport Operations Manager

Job Description: Due to expansion we have a vacancy for a Transport Operations Manager based at Bathgate. This position will be to manage the transport operations of the locals team working closely with other depots.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Management of planning, organising and supervising the activities and resources of the business area.
- Leading a team of Drivers and Office Staff.
- Dealing with Key Contacts within our current customer base.
- Identifying peaks and troughs within the Business Area and identify areas of improvement.
- Identifying any areas that are underperforming and put in place profit or performance improvement plans.
- Meeting on a regular basis with Transport Operators and planners to ensure these areas are operating as efficiently as possible.
- Continuous improvement, identifying and developing areas where we can add value to existing contracts.
- Experience in planning and implementation of new contracts and operations.
- Performing 1-2-1’s on a regular basis with direct reports.
- Conduct annual PDR interviews with direct reports.
- Monitoring and auditing Health and Safety and compliance.
- daily transport operations.
- Coordinate daily service reports and assist with general administrative tasks.
- Respond promptly to customer transport enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate updates on deliveries and collections.
- Input and maintain accurate data using spreadsheets and internal IT systems.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, external partners, and drivers to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
- Manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Receive full support and on the job training to help you develop within the transport and logistics sector.
Requirements:
- Be CPC qualified.
- Previous experience of working within the 3PL transport industry.
- Previous experience of shared user, general haulage sector highly desirable.
- Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver’s hours and WTD regulations.
- Strong Leadership Skills.
- Track record of leading successful change.
- Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions.
- Strong influencing skills both internally and externally.
- Strong analytic ability in review data and reports.
- Capability to advise and motivate team to deliver results for the business.
- Ability to present to Senior stakeholders within the business and to external customers.
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- IT literate including MS Office.
