Maths and English Tutor

  • Gillingham, Kent
  • £26.53 - £30 GBP / Year
  • Salary: £26.53 - £30

Prospero Teaching

I hope you are well.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate tutor to support a Year 8 student (L) who requires additional help to re-engage with learning.

L has not attended school for the past three weeks and is currently finding it challenging to engage in lessons. In school, he can display disruptive behaviours as a way to avoid learning, which has led to gaps in his foundational knowledge, particularly in English and Maths.

A baseline assessment will be required to identify appropriate starting points, followed by regular tuition sessions to address these gaps.

Key Requirements for the Tutor:

  • Strong knowledge of Key Stage 3 English and Maths
  • Experience supporting Autistic learners
  • A trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach
  • Ability to build a trusting and consistent relationship (this is essential for successful engagement)
  • Ideally local to the student to support longer-term reintegration into education

Additional Considerations:

  • L can experience social anxiety, so a calm, supportive, and patient approach is important
  • He may need gradual exposure to learning environments and social situations, with appropriate adult support
  • Time should be allowed for rapport building before academic progress can be expected

Hours & Flexibility:

  • Approximately 3 hours per week
  • We offer flexibility and can work around your availability
  • Opportunities to take on additional students if you are looking to increase your hours

This tuition forms part of a wider support package aimed at helping L successfully reintegrate into education and feel more confident in his learning.
