Field Service Engineer – Marine Electronics Location: Home-based (UK), with UK & international travel Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the installation, servicing, and maintenance of marine electronic systems across a diverse fleet of customer vessels. This is a home-based, remote role requiring regular travel within the UK and occasional overseas assignments.
You will work on a wide range of marine and offshore platforms, delivering high-quality technical support both onboard vessels and within workshop environments.
Key Responsibilities of Field Service Engineer
Service, repair, and maintain marine electronic equipment on customer vessels, offshore installations, and in workshop facilities.
Work on a broad range of systems including:
X & S Band Radars
VHF, MF/HF Radio Communications
Satellite Communications (VSAT, SAT-C, Iridium)
GPS Navigation Systems
ECDIS
Voyage Data Recorders (VDR)
Carry out vessel surveys and inspections, including Radio Surveys and VDR Annual Performance Tests (training provided where required).
Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation.
Work outdoors and at height when required, adhering to all safety procedures.
Provide technical support during occasional weekend or out-of-hours work, on an ad-hoc basis.
Undertake additional duties as required as the business continues to grow and evolve.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications of Field Service Engineer
Proven experience in a Field Service Engineer or similar role within marine electronics.
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
An electronics qualification is essential (HNC/HND preferred but not essential).
Full UK driving licence.
Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Ability to work independently
