Sheridan Maine is pleased to be supporting a growing organisation in Bishop’s Stortford to recruit an Accounts Assistant. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day finance operations within a busy and evolving finance function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting transactional finance processes, ensuring accuracy across the ledgers and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant:
- Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash allocation
- Support month-end processes including journals, accruals and reporting
- Assist with payroll processing and related administrative tasks
- Maintain accurate financial records and support general ledger integrity
- Respond to supplier and customer queries in a timely and professional manner
- Support compliance, controls and wider finance administration
- Assist with ongoing process improvements and system updates
The successful Accounts Assistant:
- AAT qualified (or working towards) or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in a finance or accounting role with exposure to transactional finance
- Strong understanding of core finance processes including AP, AR and reconciliations
- Confident using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
- Proactive, adaptable and willing to support a busy finance team
