English Teacher – Independent School

We are working in partnership with a highly regarded independent school in Northampton seeking an outstanding English Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026. This is a full-time permanent position and presents an excellent opportunity to teach motivated students within a supportive and ambitious educational environment.
About the Role:
- Teach engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
- Deliver a broad and stimulating curriculum encompassing both English Language and English Literature
- Foster a genuine appreciation for reading, writing, critical thinking, and effective communication
- Encourage intellectual curiosity through the study of classic and contemporary texts
- Differentiate learning effectively to meet the needs of academically able and diverse learners
- Monitor student progress and provide high-quality feedback to support excellent outcomes
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, trips, and events
- Work collaboratively within a successful and well-resourced English department
Who We're Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- A strong academic background in English Language, English Literature, or a related subject
- Experience teaching English at secondary level, including GCSE and ideally A-Level
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring young people
- High expectations for student achievement and behaviour
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to contributing positively to school life beyond the classroom
