Location: Pattison School, Coventry
Salary: Between £20,000 – £22,000 per Annum
Hours: Full Time (Five Days per Week)
Contract: Fixed-Term (Until End of Academic Year)
Start Date: Available for September Start

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to inspire our children. Pattison School is seeking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant. The
successful candidates will have the knowledge, motivation and experience to support pupils with a range of needs including those with autism, dyslexia and ADHD.

Our ideal candidate will work collaboratively with our staff to provide the very best support within the classroom environment, small group situations and on a one-to-one basis. Staff will work alongside teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils whilst also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

What you will be doing

  • Assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the assigned pupil, enabling them to make best use of educational opportunities
  • To support the pupil to learn effectively both in group situations and on a one-to-one basis, including clarifying instructions and supporting the use of resources
  • Motivate and encourage the pupil by providing appropriate levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks
  • Assist in areas of difficulty such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy and social development
  • Establish a supportive relationship and promote the inclusion and acceptance of the pupil with SEND
  • Liaise with the class teacher, SENDCO and other professionals, contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Implement agreed behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively
  • Monitor the pupil's response to learning activities and provide feedback on progress and behaviour
  • Support the pupil in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety and equality

What you'll bring

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia)
  • A good understanding of how children learn and how to support their individual needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach
  • The ability to adapt quickly and respond to the changing needs of pupils
  • A proactive, flexible and team-focused mindset
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training and continuous professional development
