About the Role
We are seeking a Mental Health Assistant to work within an educational setting supporting pupils who present with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
These pupils may face challenges such as:
- Anxiety, depression, or low mood
- Trauma-related behaviours
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Challenging behaviour linked to unmet needs
- Additional learning difficulties or neurodiverse needs
Your role will be to provide consistent, nurturing support, helping pupils to engage in their education, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist in delivering tailored learning and wellbeing activities
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encourage pupil independence and self-confidence
- Remain calm, consistent, and empathetic in challenging situations
What We’re Looking For
- A caring and patient individual with a genuine interest in mental health
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain resilient and adaptable
- Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, etc.) is desirable
- A proactive and positive attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
