**Senior Project Accountant**Parking**Progression**Exciting Business To Work With**
Location: Peterborough (Hybrid working with occasional travel)
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join a growing organisation operating within the energy and infrastructure sector. This is a key role supporting large-scale, long-term projects, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leaders and project teams to deliver high-quality financial insight and reporting.
This position is ideal for a commercially-minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports, including cost analysis and variance commentary
- Manage long-term project accounting, including capital expenditure recognition
- Produce monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) and consolidated reports
- Support project budgeting and forecasting
- Deliver cash flow reporting on a regular basis
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (VAT, year-end accounts, group reporting)
- Oversee asset and inventory management controls
- Work closely with project managers to provide real-time financial insights
- Support M&A activity, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
- Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors
- Maintain adherence to internal controls and ISO standards
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA)
- Proven experience in project accounting, ideally within construction, infrastructure, energy, or renewables
- Strong knowledge of long-term contract accounting
- Experience using ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of financial controls
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
