Disclosure Officer
- Annual Salary: £22.42 PAYE / £29.11 Umbrella per hour
- Location: Sutton, SM1
- Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid (1-year contract)
As a Disclosure Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing and reviewing vast volumes of evidential material, ensuring compliance with legal standards and supporting fair criminal proceedings.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Review, assess, and manage all evidential and unused material in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) requirements.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive disclosure schedules.
- Identify material that may undermine the prosecution case or assist the defence.
- Ensure correct handling, retention, and management of third-party material.
- Accurately describe material and assess sensitivity levels.
- Liaise closely with the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), counsel, and legal representatives.
- Present evidence and/or support disclosure processes during court proceedings where required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity standards at all times.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality assurance, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in disclosure within complex criminal investigations.
- Strong knowledge of CPIA and Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) requirements.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and commitment to evidential integrity.
- Investigative mindset with analytical capability.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
- Experience of E-discovery & HOLMES.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work under pressure within a high-profile and sensitive investigation.
- Strong organisational skills to manage large volumes of material.
- Commitment to maintaining public confidence in the criminal justice system.
- Willingness to sign a Confidentiality Agreement upon appointment.
