Senior Approved Electrician / Electrical Supervisor
Location: Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire & surrounding Home Counties areas
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive salary + company van + benefits
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Approved Electrician / Electrical Supervisor to join our growing business and take the lead on large-scale electrical projects across the Home Counties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong, commercially aware electrician who can run projects from site, lead teams effectively, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role involves supervising labour, ordering materials and plant, liaising with contractors and clients, and managing subcontractors on projects that can reach £800,000.
This role will suit someone who is more than just a good electrician — we are looking for a proven leader of teams, someone who can organise site activity, maintain standards, solve problems, and get the best out of the people around them.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of electrical projects on site.
- Leading and coordinating electricians, labour and subcontractors to ensure work is carried out efficiently.
- Liaising with clients, main contractors and project managers to keep works progressing smoothly.
- Planning and managing labour, materials, plant and site resources.
- Ensuring site teams have the correct information, drawings and support needed to deliver the project.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, health & safety, and compliance with current regulations, toolbox talks, risk assessments and site safety responsibilities.
- Monitoring progress, solving on-site issues, and helping deliver projects on time and within budget. This aligns with the current draft’s focus on workload management, reporting and commercial awareness.
- Providing technical leadership and setting the standard for the team on site.
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified Approved Electrician with relevant electrical qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- 18th Edition (BS7671).
- Proven experience running electrical projects, including managing labour, materials and subcontractors.
- Previous experience in a similar supervisory role on commercial or large-scale projects.
- A strong leader who can motivate teams, maintain discipline on site and drive productivity.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to keep projects running efficiently. The original advert specifically calls for someone “commercially minded.”
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- 2391 / 2392 Inspection & Testing
- SMSTS / SSSTS / NEBOSH
What We Offer
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Company van and uniform & PPE including power tools.
- Company pension contribution.
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
- Permanent role with genuine long-term career progression.
- The chance to join an established contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering electrical fit-out, maintenance, alteration and large-scale construction projects.
About Us
We are an established electrical contractor with more than 40 years of experience, delivering everything from maintenance and alterations through to large-scale electrical fit-out and turnkey installations. The current advert also describes the business as operating across commercial, renewables, maintenance and luxury residential work, with a focus on precision, reliability and high standards.
We are proud of the quality of our work and the strength of our team, and we are looking for someone who shares those standards — a senior electrician who can lead from the front and make a real impact on site.
