Our Client
Mackie Myers have partnered with a growing organisation in Oxfordshire to appoint a Financial Controller within their finance leadership team.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls and tax compliance. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing financial insight and supporting strategic decision-making.
Main Duties
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure the integrity of financial controls, accounting policies and procedures
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and oversee the general ledger
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
• Oversee cash flow management, treasury activities and working capital reporting
• Manage statutory accounts preparation and coordinate external audits
• Ensure compliance with all tax obligations, including VAT, corporation tax and other relevant filings
• Coordinate regulatory reporting requirements and maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations
• Partner with the Head of Finance and wider leadership team to provide commercial and financial insights
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities
The Successful Candidate
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar role
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
• Experience managing tax compliance, statutory reporting and external audits
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
• Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
