Material Planning – First Fit Expeditor
Location: Peterborough (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote after initial 3-week onsite training)
Position Type: Full-Time, 6-Month Contract (with possibility of extension)
Hours: Monday – Friday, flexible office hours (40 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £15.38/hour (PAYE)

We are seeking a Material Planning – First Fit Expeditor to join the Cummins Generator Tech site in Peterborough. This role offers an excellent entry-point into materials planning within a world-class environment, starting with a comprehensive 3-week, 5-day onsite training program before moving to a flexible hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the First Fit Planning team, you will act as a key liaison to ensure material availability and tracking. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Shipment Validation: Actively validating shipment plans directly with suppliers to ensure alignment.

Plan Maintenance: Developing and maintaining a rolling 5-day shipment plan to secure uninterrupted operations.

Inbound PO Management: Supporting inbound Purchase Order tracking and monitoring shipments across multiple sites.

Collaborative Reviews: Participating in daily and weekly review meetings to report on supply chain status and findings.
Core Competencies & Skills
While previous planning experience is not strictly required, the ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in the following areas:

Materials Planning & Systems: An understanding of or willingness to learn materials planning software to manage supply/demand plans, alongside standard tools like MS Excel.

Process & Parameter Optimization: An aptitude for principles like Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Master Supply Scheduling to ensure the right parts arrive at the right time.

Problem Solving & Complexity: Ability to make sense of high-quantity or contradictory information to solve complex supply exceptions and minimize obsolete inventory.

Soft Skills: Highly organized, strong attention to detail, customer-focused, and an effective communicator across multi-mode platforms.
Requirements

Experience: 1-4 years of relevant work experience in supply chain, logistics, or an administrative tracking role is preferred.

Education: High school diploma, secondary education certificate, or equivalent relevant work experience.

Location Commute: Ability to work onsite in Peterborough 5 days a week for the first 3 weeks, and 3 days a week thereafter.
