This Early Career Teacher (ECT) post can provide you with short-term, temporary classroom experience which can benefit you by providing teaching experience before securing an on-going placement with the responsibility of planning and preparation.

Main duties of an Early Career Teacher (ECT) working on a supply basis in Chesterfield include:
- A reliable, professional and caring approach
- To teach clearly structured lessons/sequences of work which interest and motivate students.
- Pupils' learning needs/abilities taken in to account and work differentiated if/when needed, follow existing plans in place and utilise classroom support where applicable.
- Learning objectives are clearly shared with pupils and revisited to ensure progress made and understood
- Interactive whole class or collaborative group work strategies are used within the lesson.
- Active and independent learning is promoted that enables pupils to think for themselves and to plan and manage their own learning.
- As a Early Career Teacher (ECT) you need to be able to establish a clear framework for classroom discipline and follow the school's procedures for managing behaviour which recognises, encourages and rewards good behaviour.
- When working on a supply basis you may be required to mark and assess pupils' work, using a range of monitoring and assessment strategies, evaluating pupil progress toward the planned learning objectives set out by the school.
- To keep up-to-date with current educational thinking/best practice by attending relevant In-Service Education and Training when applicable and available.
