Abbeygate Search Ltd
Working Pattern: Hybrid working available after probation, with a minimum of two days per week in the office
I’m working with a well-established business in Hertfordshire that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant into its finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has already gained some experience in accounts, finance administration or a busy office-based role, and is now looking to build on that experience in a more finance-focused position.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, has good attention to detail and is confident using Excel. You’ll be supporting a busy finance team with a mix of reconciliations, billing administration, data input, reporting support and general accounts-related queries.
Some bookkeeping knowledge, AAT studies or previous exposure to reconciliations, invoices, accruals or prepayments would be useful.
The role will include:
- Preparing, checking and updating financial information
- Maintaining accurate records across spreadsheets and internal systems
- Supporting with billing, invoice and recharge-related administration
- Reconciling income, costs and other financial data
- Helping to investigate and resolve finance-related queries
- Reviewing supplier information and assisting with cost allocation
- Supporting internal reporting and deadline tracking
- Assisting with month-end, year-end and ad hoc finance tasks
- Liaising with colleagues across the wider business to ensure information is accurate and received on time
I’m looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in accounts, finance administration or a similar office-based role
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- A basic understanding of bookkeeping or reconciliations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A calm, organised and reliable approach
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
- AAT studies, or an interest in developing within accounts, would be beneficial but not essential
This would be a strong fit for someone looking to develop their finance career within a supportive, professional environment, where they can continue building their accounting knowledge over time.
