Responsible for developing commercially viable and fashion-forward products that meet both customer and market demands manage an entire department within a division. Support the George Product Development Manager in achieving departmental objectives and executing strategies across the full product lifecycle from initial concept through to pre-production and delivery. Ensure products are developed with the right supplier, delivered right the first time, and meet the brand’s standards for fit, quality, and value. Consistently uphold safety, legal, and quality requirements to enhance the customer experience.

Ensure all products meet Asda/George safety, legal, and quality standards.

Support end-to-end product development, including fit, sizing, and quality.

Identify and manage risks early to maintain critical path timelines.

Collaborate with buying, merchandising, design, and global supplier teams to ensure timely delivery.

Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality, cost, and innovation.

Drive product improvements through fabric innovation and product engineering.

Monitor product performance (e.g. quality, returns, testing, DC rejections) and support action plans.

Conduct competitor benchmarking and in-store audits to inform improvements in fit, quality, and value.

Support sustainability and ethical trading standards across the product range.

Use customer feedback, returns data, and insights to drive continuous improvement.
'About you'
- Commercial acumen, with experience in garment construction and factory management.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, guidelines, and legal compliance.
- Product insight with commercial awareness and problem-solving abilities to address issues proactively before they escalate into bulk production problems.
- Ability to maintain strong supplier relationships and work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.
- Improve garment quality, with fabric knowledge fabric first mindset.
- Some experience in factory audits, implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to conduct in-store product audits regularly, providing clear action plans for improvements.
