The Work You'll Do
As a Children's Social Worker in Wigan, you will manage a varied, rewarding caseload spanning the entire journey of the child. Your daily practice will focus on long-term planning and dynamic safeguarding interventions:

Diverse Case Management: Safely hold and progress a mixed caseload consisting of Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children Looked After (CLA).

Court Arena Work: Guide cases confidently through the court arena, preparing analytical legal assessments, writing statements, and advocating fiercely for the child's best interests.

Multi-Agency Collaboration: Partner closely with schools, health practitioners, police, and voluntary sectors to build robust support networks around vulnerable families.

Child-Centred Planning: Deliver high-quality, direct work that ensures the unique voice, wishes, and feelings of every young person shape their care plan.

What You'll Need to Apply

A recognized degree in Social Work and a current registration with Social Work England.

Proven post-qualifying experience within a statutory Children's Services framework (specifically handling CP, court proceedings, or complex assessments).

Strong analytical writing skills and the confidence to represent the authority in court.

A full UK driving license with access to a vehicle for community-based visits.
