Income Officer (Housing)
Wembley Park (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days WFH)
Pay Rate: £21.41 PAYE / £28.19 Umbrella per hour
Contract Role – 3 months (subject to change)
Working Hours –Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
The Opportunity
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Income Officer to join a busy Housing Management team based in Wembley Park. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maximising rental income, supporting tenants, and ensuring sustainable tenancies across a diverse housing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage rent accounts and drive effective arrears recovery across multiple tenures
- Provide high-quality customer service, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies
- Offer advice on welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, and signpost to specialist support services
- Carry out home visits and tenant engagement to resolve arrears and support vulnerable residents
- Take enforcement action where required, including preparing cases for court and attending hearings
- Work collaboratively with internal teams (Housing, Social Care, Rent Accounting) to deliver a joined-up service
- Promote early intervention and income maximisation strategies, including Direct Debit sign-ups
- Maintain accurate case records and produce reports on arrears performance
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in rent arrears recovery / income collection within housing
- Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and welfare reform
- Understanding of rent arrears pre-action protocols and relevant legislation
- Experience working in a multi-agency or partnership environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work both independently and collaboratively
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
