Ready for a leadership step up? We're recruiting for a Mid Market Senior Underwriter to lead the Existing Business Underwriting team in Leeds, taking genuine autonomy over portfolio strategy, broker partnerships, and team development while delivering strong financial performance and exceptional customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Existing Business Underwriting team, driving profitability through effective portfolio management while ensuring strong financial outcomes and excellent service delivery to brokers and customers
- Provide technical leadership on complex underwriting cases, acting as escalation point for junior team members and supporting sound commercial trading decisions within governance frameworks
- Build and maintain strategic broker relationships across the region, collaborating on renewal negotiations, market positioning, and growth strategy while representing the company's underwriting standards
- Mentor and develop underwriting talent within your team, supporting qualification progression and strengthening technical standards across the function
Qualifications
- Substantial leadership experience in Property & Liability underwriting with proven track record managing complex portfolios and delivering strong financial performance and loss ratios
- Strong stakeholder and broker relationship management skills, combined with ability to analyse portfolio performance, identify trends, and make strategic commercial decisions
- Demonstrated people development and mentoring capability; solid technical knowledge of P&L underwriting principles with understanding of market dynamics and competitive positioning
