With an increasing focus on student wellbeing and mental health, schools are seeking dedicated Wellbeing & Pastoral Support Staff to help students thrive both academically and personally.
Your new role
As a Wellbeing & Pastoral Support staff member, you will play a key role in supporting students' emotional, social, and behavioural development. You will work closely with pupils who may be experiencing challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, or difficulty engaging with school life.This role may involve working 1:1 with students or supporting small groups within a pastoral or inclusion setting.Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing pastoral and emotional support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Supporting pupils with mental health and wellbeing needs, including anxiety and low mood
- Building positive and trusting relationships to improve engagement and attendance
- Delivering or supporting intervention sessions focused on wellbeing and resilience
- Helping students develop coping strategies and positive behaviours
- Working closely with Heads of Year, SENCOs, and safeguarding teams
- Promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have experience working with young people in a pastoral, wellbeing, or support capacity
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient in your approach
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
- Be passionate about supporting student wellbeing and inclusion
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check
- Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, counselling, or care settings is highly desirable.
