Management Accountant
Location: West London (Hybrid)
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract (6 months), Immediate start
Salary: £50-60,000

A renowned charity is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its finance team on a fixed-term basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of management reporting, business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, while contributing to the ongoing development of finance systems and reporting processes.

About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, the Management Accountant will play a key role in providing high-quality financial management information, analysis and support across a diverse portfolio of programmes and services. The postholder will be responsible for producing accurate and insightful management accounts, developing robust reporting solutions, and partnering with operational managers to support informed decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary for budget holders and senior stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of the monthly management reporting suite, ensuring reports are delivered accurately and to agreed deadlines.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation, audit requirements and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Build, maintain and enhance financial reports that consolidate data from multiple systems using advanced Excel and Power Query.
  • Develop financial models, dashboards and reporting tools to improve financial insight and decision-making.
  • Coordinate annual budgeting processes and prepare regular forecasts and cashflow projections.
  • Partner with managers across the organisation to monitor financial performance and provide commercial and operational insight.
  • Support project and grant accounting activities, including monitoring funding streams and preparing financial reports for stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes and enhance finance systems.

About You:
Essential

  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
  • Experience building and maintaining reports using Power Query, Get & Transform or similar tools.
  • Strong business partnering experience with operational and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyse financial data and present findings clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a charity, not-for-profit, public sector or grant-funded environment.
  • Knowledge of charity accounting requirements and fund accounting principles.
  • Experience supporting external audits and statutory reporting processes.
  • Experience with financial modelling, scenario planning and bid/pricing support.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Power BI, SQL or other reporting tools.
