Maintenance Technician (Weekend Cover) – Student Accommodation
Location: Edinburgh City Centre
Hours: Saturdays & Sundays, 1:00pm – 10:00pm throughout summer
Contract: Temporary (Summer Cover)
Pay Rate: £12.71 – £13.00 per hour
About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Maintenance Technician to provide weekend cover at a modern, purpose-built student accommodation in the heart of Edinburgh.
This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in maintaining high standards. You'll play a key part in ensuring residents have a safe, clean, and well-maintained living environment throughout the summer period.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the property is well presented, clean, and fully functional at all times
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks in line with service standards
- Complete basic repairs, maintenance, and minor redecoration
- Support and liaise with external contractors when required
- Maintain communal areas, including regular cleaning and upkeep
- Manage waste areas, ensuring bin stores are tidy and rotated properly
- Conduct routine health & safety checks, including fire safety and risk assessments
- Assist with legionella testing and compliance tasks
- Help create and maintain a safe and secure environment for residents
About You
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or security is desirable
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- A relevant trade qualification is an advantage, but not essential
